how u have to get up and move out of the way before the stampede gets to you. how when it gets to you, it becomes a lot harder to get up with all the cows stepping on u. and how the longer you stay the more broken you become, and when you’re broken, it’s even harder to get up. how this is exactly what we do when we don’t speak our mind the first time we meet a new person or a new group. we punish ourselves a little bit for not speaking up. and with each time we don’t speak up, we punish ourselves even more, to the point where we don’t remember anymore the circumstances that led us to punishing ourselves. all we remember is the punishment. that’s how hard it becomes to stand up and speak up to someone who’s been stampeding us without us getting up and moving to the side.
